Pursue Life, Not Death

Key Truth: You cannot pursue resurrection while clinging to what God already left behind. If it’s empty, God has already moved.

Consider This: The women showed up at the tomb carrying spices for a body that was no longer there. They came prepared for death, but God had already released life. Yes, they were doing a good thing, but it wasn't a God thing.

When they arrived, they were met with one question: “Why are you looking for the living among the dead?”

Before we get too hard on them, that same question is for us. How often do we return to places God has already cleared out? Old pain. Old mindsets. Old versions of ourselves.

We revisit them, rehearse them and relive them. All while God is saying, “I’m not there anymore.”

If the tomb is empty, it is not an invitation to stay, it is proof that it is time to move.

Reflection Questions:

• What am I holding onto that God has already released me from?

• Where am I expecting life in something God has already emptied?

• What is God inviting me to walk into that I’ve been hesitant to embrace?

Application: 

Today is a decision. Stop returning to what God has already resolved. Stop searching for answers in places that no longer carry His presence.

Instead:

• Release what no longer has life in it.

• Renew your mind with what God says is now true.

• Take one bold step forward, even if it feels unfamiliar.

Resurrection is not just something Jesus did; it’s a life He invites you to live.

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to where You’ve already brought life. Help me stop returning to empty places and searching for what is no longer there. Give me the clarity to see what You’ve revived and the courage to walk fully in it. Teach me to trust Your finished work and move forward in Your resurrection power. In Jesus’ name, amen.
