Hold Her Hands Up

Key Truth: Standing in the gap means bringing a sister before God and staying beside her in love.

Scripture Anchor:

Exodus 17:12

James 5:16

Consider This: Moses’ hands grew tired while Joshua and the Israelites fought below. Aaron and Hur brought a stone for him to sit on, then supported his hands until sunset. They didn’t shame his exhaustion; they responded to it with action and love. That scene gives us a beautiful picture of what support looks like; it notices the weariness, makes room for rest, and helps sustain the person.

Ladies, there are days when even the praying woman needs someone to pray for her. Standing in the gap doesn’t mean taking God’s place because we know we can't control the outcome or fix every situation. However, we can bring our sister’s needs before the One who hears us and remain present while she waits. Her pain is not a conversation piece. Her request is a trust.

Carry her name to God. Handle her story with care.

And remember: “I’m praying for you” can become “Can we pray together right now?”

Reflection Questions:

  • Whose weariness have I noticed but not responded to?

  • Do I follow up after I promise to pray?

Application:

Practice pray, protect, pursue.

  • Pray: Ask permission to pray with her and name her specific need.

  • Protect: Keep her request confidential unless she gives permission to share.

  • Pursue: Check in again this week without pressuring her to explain everything.

Prayer: Father, strengthen the woman who is weary today. Help me recognize when she needs support and respond with compassion. Teach me to pray faithfully, protect her trust, and remain present. In Jesus’ name - amen.

Closing Declaration: I will bring my sisters before God and stand beside them with faithful love.
