I Am Covered by God's Presence

Our prayer theme for the month of May has been, “I Am Covered by God’s Presence,” and our focus Scripture has been Psalm 16:11: “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Be sure to join us for prayer tomorrow as we delve deeper into this Scripture.

As we wrap up this month’s prayer theme, we want to be good sisters and give you practical ways and examples of how you can trust God’s presence to cover you in any season you find yourself in—whether it’s chaos or celebration. So, keep reading, and be sure to comment and share your examples to be a blessing to your Community of Sisters. Or simply let us know if you will incorporate one or more of these examples into your own life. XOXO

8 Examples of How to Trust God's Presence to Cover You

  1. Begin Your Day with Prayer: Duh??? Someone may be thinking. However, many forsake the privilege of prayer and the power and proficiency it brings. Before you start your day, take a moment to pray, asking God to guide your thoughts, cover your steps, and fill you with trust in His plan.

  2. Reflect on God’s Past Faithfulness: Write down instances where God has shown His faithfulness in your life. Place this list on your bathroom mirror, in your car, on your computer screen, and revisit this list often to remind yourself of His constant covering presence.

  3. Meditate on Scripture: Psalm 1:1-2 states, "Blessed is the (wo)man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, not sits in the seat of the scronrful; WATCH THIS >>> BUT his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night." There is no way around it - we must meditate on Scriptures and not on Series or Social Media (I am talking to MYSELF). If we are going to have a lifestyle that resolves in the fact that we are covered by God's presence, then we need to choose a passage that speaks about God's presence and meditate on it throughout the day. Let it be a source of strength and reassurance.

  4. Practice Thankfulness: Pastor Ricky Williams of the Palm Springs, CA area would always say, "When you think, you can thank". When you sit back and think of all the ways God has made, doors He has opened and closed, hearts He has mended, backs He has clothed, mouths He has fed - you can't help but thank Him. Satan's job is to distract us from thinking about God, so list three things you are thankful for each day. Recognizing God’s blessings helps reinforce your trust in His presence.

  5. Spend Time in Nature: The weather is "trying" to warm us here in Michigan. Take a walk outside and observe the beauty of creation. Trust in the Creator who not only created all things, but sustains all things, including you.

  6. Share Your Trust Journey: Iron sharpens iron. When chatting with a Girlfriend, simply tell her how you have been intentionally trusting God and the ups, downs or maybe even both that you have felt. Sharing your story with a Sister can be a source of encouragement for you both.

  7. Embrace Silence and Stillness: Eeekkksss - this makes some of you cringe to sit in silence. To sit still. Take a few minutes each day to be still and silent, allowing God's presence to fill you with His peace and trust that He is covering you even in what appears to be calamity, chaos, cheers, or fears.

  8. Listen to Worship Music: What is a go to song of yours right now? Mine is, "My Response" by Phil Thompson and "Proof" by Pastor Mike Jr.. To be reminded of God’s Presence to Cover Us, focus on songs that speak to the character and consistency of God's nature and let the lyrics resonate in your heart and watch the Holy Spirit lift your spirit.

  9. Journal Your Prayers: Many of my Girlfriends are journalers - I, on the other hand, am not consistent. However, when I do write my prayers down and how God answers them, I am reinvigorated and refocused on the Redeemer and how He has rescued my life when I read them. So, journal Girlfriend - this practice can help you see His hand at work in your life.

  10. Seek His Guidance: Before making decisions, big or small, pause and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. Open the BOOK before opening Facebook. Trust that He will lead you in the right direction because HE WILL.

I am so glad God is SOVEREIGN

Can I be honest? While I say, believe, and know that I love Jesus, I don't always behave like him, nor share in His mindset as I know I...
