Your Labor IS NOT in Vain

Key Truth: When your labor is rooted in the Lord, no season of faithful work is ever wasted.

Consider This: Girlfriend, on this Labor Day, we celebrate YOU. Whether you work outside or inside the home, care for your family, run a business, serve your community, volunteer, lead a ministry, or have retired from a career after years of service, your work matters.

We may have different assignments, but we are all called to be Kingdom Builders and Kingdom building is not always easy. Some seasons are bountiful. You can see the fruit of your labor everywhere. Doors are opening. Prayers are being answered. Ideas are working. God is blowing your mind.

While other seasons come with bruises. You work and don't see results.

You pour and wonder if anybody notices. You pray and keep waiting. You serve while tired. You remain faithful while wondering, “God, is any of this making a difference?”

Paul answers that question in 1 Corinthians 15:58: Your labor in the Lord is NOT in vain. Not some of it. Not only the parts that produce immediate results. Not only the work people applaud. Your labor in the Lord is never wasted.

That's why Paul gives us three instructions for every season:

1. Be STEADFAST in the struggles.

   Don't allow a hard season to make you abandon what God assigned you to do. Steadfast faith says, “This is difficult, but I'm still here.”

   
   

2. Be IMMOVABLE when life feels insurmountable.

   Everything around you may be moving, changing, shaking, or uncertain, but your confidence can remain anchored in God. You don't have to be moved by everything that moves around you.

   
   

3. Keep ABOUNDING when God leaves you astounded.

   And when God answers the prayer, opens the door, increases the opportunity, exceeds your expectations, and absolutely blows your mind, don't stop pursuing Him because you finally received what you were pursuing.

Somebody say, "KEEP!!!"

• Keep growing.

• Keep serving.

• Keep giving.

• Keep building.

• Keep pursuing.

Because faith is required in the season that bruises you and in the season that blesses you.

Sometimes we think we need more faith when life is hard, but success requires faith too. Increase requires faith. New opportunities require faith. Answered prayers require faith.

Whatever season you're working through today, pursue faith in it. Why? Because there is a promise connected to the principle.

The principle: Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. The promise: Your labor is not in vain.

Hebrews 11:6 reminds us of another promise: God rewards those who diligently seek Him. So don't measure the value of your labor only by what you can currently see. God sees the work. God sees the faith. God sees the sacrifice. And God knows what He intends to do with every seed of obedience you have planted.

Reflection Questions:

• What kind of season am I working through right now: bountiful, bruising, or somewhere in between?

• Where is God asking me to remain steadfast instead of becoming discouraged?

• What has been trying to move me away from what God told me to do?

• Have I been so focused on the results of my labor that I've forgotten the God for whom I'm laboring?

• How can I continue pursuing faith whether God changes my season or strengthens me in it?

Application:

This week, use three words from 1 Corinthians 15:58 to check your faith:

STEADFAST: What do I need to keep doing?

• Identify one God-honoring thing you are tempted to quit simply because it has become difficult.

IMMOVABLE: Where do I need to stand?

• Identify one circumstance that has been controlling your emotions, confidence, or obedience. Bring your focus back to what God has said.

ABOUNDING: Where can I give God more?

• Don't just maintain. Ask God where He is calling you to grow, serve, love, give, create, lead, or believe at another level.

Then remind yourself: My responsibility is faithfulness. God handles the fruit.

Prayer: Father, thank You for every assignment You have placed in my hands. When the work gets hard, help me to remain steadfast. When life feels insurmountable, keep me immovable. And when Your goodness leaves me astounded, may I keep abounding in You. Whether this season brings bounty or bruises, strengthen me to pursue faith, remembering that my labor in You is never in vain. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Closing Declaration: I am a Kingdom Builder. In the struggle, I will be steadfast. When it feels insurmountable, I will be immovable. When God leaves me astounded, I will keep abounding. In bounty or bruises, I will pursue faith. My labor in the Lord is never in vain.
